The Taoiseach and the British Prime Minister have discussed progress in the continuing efforts to end the current impasse in the North’s peace process. Speaking after this morning's telephone conversation, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern said that there were still some difficulties to be overcome but the two governments would keep trying right up to the Christmas break and afterwards, if necessary. Mr Ahern and Tony Blair will talk again by phone in the middle of the week.
