US President Bill Clinton is to pay another visit to the North before he leaves office. A White House announcement said he would spend three days in the UK and Ireland from 12-14 of December. His time is expected to be divided between Belfast, London and Dublin as he tries to inject new life into the peace process.
Welcoming the announcement the Taoiseach said the visit would provide an opportunity for Irish people to celebrate and applaud the Clinton Presidency. He said it had been marked by an unprecedented interest in Irish affairs generally, by Mr. Clinton’s active support for the Peace Process in Northern Ireland in particular, and by his encouragement for stronger economic links between the United States and the island of Ireland.
