Vice-president of SIPTU, Jack O'Connor, this afternoon said that implications of inflation in the current review of the PPF could not be ignored. He said that inflation was the scourge of working people, destroying living standards and ultimately extinguishing hope.
Speaking at the union's Public Sector Regional Conference in Dublin, Mr O’Connor criticised what he said were the delays in achieving real results from the partnership model in terms of equality and the living standards of workers. He also dismissed any erosion of the right to strike and reiterated SIPTU's commitment to forcing the employers and the Government to address the shortfall in living standards.
