Anti-pylon protestors in Donegal clash with ESB

Environmentalists have clashed with the ESB and the employers' body, IBEC, over plans to erect 70 miles of steel pylons and wooden poles across the western half of County Donegal. The plans are part of a £56 million project to improve power supplies to the region. The ESB and IBEC say that the pylons are essential to facilitate industrial and commercial development in the county. The environmental groups argue that the network will destroy one of the most spectacular natural landscapes in Europe.
