Israeli troops may have been killed by friendly fire

Israel's army chief has said that he would not rule out the possibility that three soldiers killed during a gunfight with the Islamic group Hamas were shot dead by Israeli friendly fire. The three soldiers were killed and a fourth was injured during a search in a village near Nablus for Mahmoud Abu Hanoud, a Hamas leader, accused of involvement in at least two bomb attacks. He later escaped to Nablus and was later arrested there by Palestinian police.
