Post mortem to be carried out on Drogheda accident victim

A post mortem is to be carried out today on the body of a father of four who drowned in the River Boyne in Drogheda last night. It is believed that the man, 26-year-old Thomas Faherty from Marlay's Lane in the town, suffered head injuries when he was involved in a car crash yesterday evening. He had earlier refused treatment at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

A Garda attempted to rescue Mr Faherty but was unable to reach him. His body was recovered by the Drogheda River Rescue Unit at around 9.30pm last night.
