Second gun attack reported at bar on Lower Shankill

Three people have been injured in a gun attack at a bar on the Lower Shankill Road in West Belfast. It is the second time today that the Rex bar has been targeted in what is believed to be part of a bitter Loyalist feud between elements of the UVF and LVF. Those injured tonight were shot in the arms and legs as they stood outside the bar by a lone gunman. The three have been taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Earlier today two men and a woman were injured in a shooting incident outside the Rex bar shortly before 3.30pm. Their injuries were not life threatening. The RUC are investigating reports that more shots were fired in the area an hour after the incident. Several homes in the lower Shankill area were also attacked by a number of men this evening. Some of the homes were set on fire.

Thousands of Loyalists, many of whom were wearing masks and paramilitary uniforms, paraded along the Shankill Road in Belfast today. The former Ulster Freedom Fighters prisoner, Johnny Adair is reported to have led one of the groups, who were carrying UFF and UDA flags.
