Dublin bus services continue to be disrupted tonight despite the lifting of all ILDA pickets at depots earlier this evening. The company said that many bus drivers had not reported for late duties. Iarnród Éireann says that there was a slight reduction of Dart services. On mainline routes hopes of restoring normal train services to Westport have received a setback.
Tonight's Dublin-Westport train only operated as far as Claremorris following claims that the driver had been intimidated by ILDA picketers. Iarnród Éireann that said it regarded the development as a very serious setback to its efforts to restore train services to County Mayo. All trains to and from Westport tomorrow will not operate beyond Claremorris.
The rail company announced this morning that three special trains would operate between Galway and Dublin on Sunday to take GAA fans to the All Ireland Hurling semi-final. Two will operate from Galway City and one from Athenry.
In a statement today, both the NBRU and SIPTU have once again appealed to the striking train drivers to return to work. They said that an early return is essential to avoid inconvenience to the public and ensure personal relations between drivers is not damaged beyond repair.
