George W Bush has formally accepted the Republican Party's nomination to contest the US presidential election in November. During his keynote address to the party's national convention in Philadelphia, the Governor of Texas promised leadership and new beginnings. Mr Bush also pledged to seize on what he called the squandered opportunities of the Clinton administration and to restore honour to the White House.
