Fujimori accuses Peruvian opposition of attempted arson

Peru's President, Alberto Fujimori, has accused the opposition of attempting to set fire to the country's congress, and blamed opposition protest organisers for the violence of Friday night which led to the deaths of six people and saw another 79 injured. Mr Fujimori said that they behaved like terrorists during the mass protests. Opposition leader Alejandro Toledo, who pulled out of Peru's election on May 28 on grounds that the vote was rigged, earlier accused the government of planting intelligence agents in the crowd to provoke the violence.
