Shelbourne entertain Rosenborg tonight in the first of a two-leg Champions League qualifier. Tonight’s leg takes place at Tolka Park. Shelbourne's chances, against a team which has been competing against the top teams in Europe for the last five years, have all but been dismissed, but that won't affect manager Dermot Keely’s optimism, “We’ll go out there looking to win the match because that’s always what we do,” said Keely.
Keely has however got substantial injury worries ahead of the game, with Declan Geoghegan being joined on the injured list by Paul Doolin and Dave Campbell. On the other hand though, Stephen Geoghegan returned to training last night and is prepared to play despite having a badly bruised ankle. Although Shelbourne’s chances are slim they will battle hard and won't make it easy for Rosenborg. They expect to arrive in Norway for the return leg with the tie still very much in the balance.
