Preparations are being made at the IFI plant in Arklow to receive a train carrying a consignment of ammonia. The fertiliser factory has been closed because it cannot receive its ammonia supplies by rail. IFI requires a minimum of two nine-tank ammonia trains per day from Cobh to allow full production to resume. Iarnród Éireann has said that two trains will operate tomorrow and will know by Friday whether it can guarantee two train services per day. A company spokesman said that he was confident that at least two trains a day would be provided to allow full production to resume. IFI has said that it will decide on when to recall its 200 strong workforce when it hears whether Iarnród Éireann can guarantee the trains.
