A tornado has killed eight people and injured almost 80 at a camping site in the western Canadian province of Alberta. Hundreds of summer holidaymakers were at the campground, southeast of the provincial capital, Edmonton, when the tornado struck without warning. Witnesses described scenes of turmoil as the wind ripped up trees and overturned dozens of caravans and cars, tossing some of them into a lake. Survivors have been moved into emergency accommodation as a search continues for other possible victims.
