Fine Gael's Olivia Mitchell has called on the Government to appoint an independent facilitator in the rail dispute. Deputy Mitchell said the dispute is causing serious inconvenience to the general public and doing untold damage to the company itself and the wider business community. The unofficial strike action by members of the Irish Locomotive Drivers' Association is now in its thirteenth day, and services to the South and West will be severely restricted again this weekend. Meanwhile, David Humphries of Railtours Ireland said tourists and those in the tourist business are also losing out.
