UN Security Council agrees to endorse Israeli withdrawal

The UN Security Council has reached a tentative agreement to endorse verification that Israeli forces have withdrawn from Lebanon after US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright intervened in the dispute. In the meantime, Lebanon has asked the council to wait until it can check border positions and make sure Israeli forces really have withdrawn. The council will then formally adopt a statement accepting Secretary-General Kofi Annan's verdict on the Israeli pull out.
