The British Foreign Secretary has said that the planned withdrawal of British Troops from Sierra Leone will go ahead, despite Sierra Leone's plea that they be allowed to remain. However, Robin Cook did promise to "go the distance" to help restore peace in the country, and called for an increase in the UN presence in the troubled region.
