Frankie Dettori and Ray Cochrane have been taken to Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge following a light airplane crash on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket today. The pilot of the aircraft has been killed. A spokesman for Suffolk police said: "There has been an airplane crash on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket. One person has died and two people have been injured."
Peter Burrell, Dettori's business agent, said: "I have only just heard about the accident. Unfortunately it is a very serious accident. Ray and Frankie are on their way to hospital. They appear to be OK but I understand the pilot has died. All we are thinking about right now is the pilot and his family and whether Frankie and Ray are going to make a full recovery." Early reports say that Cochrane is unconscious and Dettori has suffered leg injuries.
