Three women killed in Laois road accident

Three women have been killed in a road accident in County Laois, on the main Kilkenny to Dublin road. They were Josephine Kelly aged 41, her daughter Lisa aged 19, and Sandra Kelly, 39 all from Wolf Hill, County Laois. The accident happened just before noon at an area called the Rushes, seven miles north of Castlecomer. The women were struck by a car; the driver is in a serious condition in hospital. The investigation into the accident is being headed by Gardaí in Abbeyleix.

Three people have died in other road accidents this morning. A woman was killed in a collision between two cars at Mountmellick in County Laois. She was a passenger in one of the vehicles. A man who was driving was seriously injured. A 70-year-old woman died, when she was struck by a car in Lispole in County Kerry. A man died following an accident in County Kildare. The accident happened around three o'clock this morning a mile and half outside Naas on the Sallins road. No other people or vehicles were involved in the accident.
