The Construction Industry Federation has warned that labour shortages in the building sector are now at crisis point. The CIF is calling on the Government to address the issue as a matter of urgency and avoid jeopardising the current building boom. The number of new apprentices is expected to rise to 6,000 this year, but the Federation's Director General, Liam Kelleher, said the backlog in training was a cause for concern.
