The managerial team of Liam Buckley and John Tracey have been shown the door by Saint Patrick’s Athletic just eight months after leading them to the league title. The club's Director of Football and previous manager Pat Dolan has taken over. By their recent high standards, this has been a disappointing season for Pats.

They were hammered in the Champions League pre-qualifiers by Moldovan side FC Zimbru and then started the league campaign unconvincingly. However, they had closed to within 4 points of leaders Shelbourne just three weeks ago before losing to Shels, then to Bohs and last weekend to Waterford to drop to 5th place, 11 points off the pace.

According to the club's statement they offered Buckley a role in a re-jigged management set up. It seems that Dolan was to take a more direct involvement in first team matters. Buckley obviously felt he was being undermined and the upshot is that he has gone along with his assistant John Tracey. Dolan preceded Buckley as manager and also lead Pats to the league title. Now he finds himself back in charge for Sunday's game against Drogheda.
