Olympic Committee bans trips to bidding cities

The International Olympic Committee meeting in Switzerland today have agreed to ban all-expenses-paid trips to bidding Olympic cities. The committee met today to agree reforms that will radically change the Olympic movement. The measures are part of a package of 50 recommendations aimed at improving the IOC's image by changing the way it is run, following corruption scandals. The meeting in Lausanne passed without incident; it had been feared that members might revolt against the reforms.

Earlier this year, six members were expelled and four resigned after they were accused of breaking rules against accepting gifts from the authorities in Salt Lake City when it was bidding to stage the 2002 Winter Games.
