An Indonesian policeman has been killed in a border clash with members of the United Nations-backed intervention force for East Timor. An Indonesian military spokesman said that the INTERFET force had attacked a border post manned by Indonesian troops and police, in the mistaken belief that it was a pro-Jakarta militia post. Two other policemen were wounded, one seriously.
