Gaelic Games and an estimated crowd of 50,000 people turned out in Cork last night to welcome home the 1999 All Ireland Hurling Champions. There were emotional scenes as the Liam McCarthy Cup was paraded through the city. It has been an unforgettable few days for all of those involved. The Browne family has had plenty of reasons to celebrate, brothers John and Alan both collected winner's medals on Sunday.

Now Cork fans are talking about the double. The footballers play Meath in the Bank of Ireland All-Ireland Football final at Croke Park on Sunday week. Cork manager Larry Tompkins has said he feels the success of the hurlers will have a positive effect on his players.
