Wildcat strike disrupts Dublin/Cork/Kerry trains

Rail services between Dublin and the south-west are due to return to normal tomorrow following severe disruption today caused by a wildcat strike by drivers based in Cork. The row is over the right of an official from the Irish Locomotive Drivers Association to represent union members.

Iarnród Eireann says the five past one train from Dublin to Killarney will operate to Mallow only. It is unlikely that any other trains will run from Dublin to Cork or Kerry today. Intending passengers have been asked to make alternative travel arrangements.

It is expected that the only two trains to Dublin today from Cork will be the half past two and the half past four departures. This morning's 8.30am train from Dublin to Cork was cancelled as was this morning's 8.45am train from Cork to Dublin.
