Unofficial strike action may hit Cork train services

Iarnrod Eireann has said there is a threat of unofficial action tomorrow by Cork-based train drivers. The company says it cannot guarantee that all its services between Cork, Kerry and Dublin will run as normal tomorrow. Passengers can get information by calling the company in Cork at 021-504777 or CallSave 1850 366222 from 7am tomorrow morning.

All Iarnród Eireann rail services operated normally today after disruptions in parts of the the west and midlands yesterday evening. Yesterday, services were suspended in a row over the right of an official from the Irish Locomotive Drivers Association to represent union members. A spokesman for the company said that no trains operated between Athlone, Wesport and Ballina, due to the refusal of certain drivers to work. Buses were used to bring passengers to their destinations.
