A young Irish racing driver has died after an accident during a race at Oulton Park in Cheshire. 19-year-old Neil Shanahan from Dublin crashed during a Formula Ford race on the second lap of the race. It is understood that three cars tangled and his Van Diemen car came to rest at Clay Hill bend, around 1.30pm today. Paramedics and a doctor were immediately on the scene, but Mr Shanahan had suffered massive trauma which induced a cardiac arrest. He was resucitated at the scene and helicoptered in minutes to hospital in Chester. However, he died before arriving.
