A new opinion poll has shown a further drop in support for the Taoiseach following the Sheedy Affair and new revelations at the Flood Tribunal. But the poll in tomorrow's Irish Times also shows little change in the satisfactory rating of the Government. And there is little consolation for the Opposition.
The poll indicates the state of the parties, with Fianna Fáil at forty-six per cent, that's down two per cent from the last Irish Times MRBI poll carried out in February. Fine Gael is at twenty-four per cent, down one per cent. Labour are up one to fifteen per cent. The Progressive Democrats are also up one at five per cent. The Greens are down one at two per cent and Sinn Féin are up one at three per cent.
Bertie Ahern's personal rating has dropped dramatically, at fifty-eight per cent he's down twelve points. Mary Harney at sixty-three per cent is down one. John Bruton is also down one at forty-six per cent. And Ruairi Quinn remains unchanged at fifty-five per cent. Satisfaction with the Government is virtually unchanged at fifty-one per cent, down one.
