The former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has paid a visit to the former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet this morning. The event was televised live from the estate where Pinochet is under house arrest near London. He has rarely appeared in public view since his arrest last year on an extradition warrant from Spain for human rights abuses.
The former 83-year-old strongman used a walking stick but appeared in good health. This is the first meeting that Lady Thatcher has had with Pinochet since his arrest.
