British and French to assess peace talk progress

The British and French foreign ministers are due to meet international mediators at the Kosovo peace talks near Paris today to assess what progress has been made and whether it's worth continuing with the discussions.

The ethnic Albanians have already accepted the peace plan for the province but the Serbs have steadfastly refused to do so. The head of the OSCE mission in Kosovo, William Walker, has said he feels vindicated by a report commisioned by the European Union which concluded that the killings of over 40 ethnic Albanians at Racak in January was a crime against humanity.

Speaking on Morning Ireland, Mr Walker, an American diplomat, said it was quite clear the Serb authorities were responsible for the killings.
