'See More Business', trained by Paul Nicholls and ridden by Irish jockey Mick Fitzgerald won the Gold Cup this afternoon. Go Ballistic finished second with the favourite Florida Pearl coming in third. This was the richest ever Cheltenham Tote Gold Cup with £260,000-added, the prestigous prize going to joint owners Paul Barber and John Keatley.
The 16-1 chance, came to challenge rank outsider Go Ballistic at the final fence. And he proved just the stronger on the run-in to erase memories of his unlucky run in the race last year when he was carried out when well fancied. Irish hopeful Dorans Pride was well out of contention with several fences to go and Florida Pearl faded in the closing stages to finish third. Teeton Mill was pulled up more than a circuit from home by Norman Williamson.
It has been a disappointing day for the Irish with Doran's Pride not factoring in the finish of The Gold Cup and Enda Bolger's well fancied favourite, Elegant Lord having to settle for runner-up in The Christies Foxhunter's Chase.
