US peace envoy to meet KLA tomorrow

The American peace envoy to Kosovo, Christopher Hill, is now expected to meet leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army tomorrow to hear their views on an international peace deal for the province.

Earlier, it was reported that Mr. Hill was expected in Kosovo today to attend a meeting of senior commanders of the KLA, the ethnic Albanian rebel group, who are fighting for independence for the Serbian province.

Senior commanders of the KLA are still expected to meet today to discuss whether to sign the peace plan. The American mediator, Bob Dole, has said that he is convinced that they will accept the plan, but other Western officials have cautioned that this may still not happen immediately.
