British Army paratrooper, Lee Clegg, has begun giving evidence at his retrial for the murder of a Belfast teenager.
He told Belfast Crown Court he fired four shots into the car - three at the windscreen and one into a side wing - because he thought it had hit another soldier and because he believed it contained terrorists.
Corporal Clegg said the incident was over within three or four seconds.
Corporal Clegg is arguing that his actions were lawful and that he was acting in the defence of another soldier.
