Two half-brothers who spent 21 years on death row in the American state of South Carolina have been executed by lethal injection.
Larry Gilbert and JD Gleaton were convicted of murdering a petrol station attendant in 1977.
They were executed shortly after the United States Supreme Court rejected a last-ditch appeal in which the men claimed their lengthy stay on death row was cruel and unusual punishment.
