RTÉ Today's TV Home Cook is a nationwide search to find Ireland's next standout home cook. Eight contestants from across the country have been selected and mentored by Trisha Lewis as they take on a series of cooking challenges in a professional TV kitchen for the very first time.
Over two days, they will share their recipes.
Meet Gerald Daniels, who prepared his take on a traditional bunny chow.

- 1.5kg chicken pieces
- 4 potatoes (quartered)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- Curry leaves
- 2–3 tomatoes (blended or tinned)
- 1–1½ tsp salt
- 2–3 tsp curry powder
- 1 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp cumin powder
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 2 tsp ginger & garlic paste
- Oil
Method
- In a bowl, mix chicken with tomatoes, spices and garlic/ginger paste.
- Heat oil in a large pot. Add onion, cumin seeds and curry leaves, cooking until soft.
- Add marinated chicken and stir well to combine.
- Reduce heat, cover and cook for 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add potatoes and cook for a further 10–15 minutes until tender.
- Finish with fresh coriander and rest briefly before serving.
- Serve inside hollowed bread for traditional Bunny Chow.
