This chocolate cake is exceptionally rich and indulgent.
Ingredients
To prepare the tin:
- 30g melted butter
- 1 tsp. cocoa powder
For the cake:
- 300g dark 70% chocolate
- 275g caster sugar
- 165g butter
- 5 eggs
- 30g ground almonds
- Icing sugar for dusting
Method
For the cake:
- Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
- Prepare a round springform tin (20cm-23cm).
- Brush the tin with melted butter and dust with cocoa powder.
- Put the chocolate, caster sugar and butter in a bowl and place it over a pot of simmering water. Allow all of the chocolate and butter to melt. Mix this together.
- In a separate bowl, mix the eggs and the almonds. Add in the warm chocolate mixture. Use a spatula to fold all of this together.
- Place this in the prepared tin and put it in the oven. Bake this for 50 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool in the tin. Once it has cooled dust with icing sugar.
