Makes 6

  • 1 x 320g shop bought puff pastry
  • 20g plain flour20g butter
  • 130ml milk
  • Salt & pepper
  • 80g grated cheese
  • 100g cooked ham
  • 4 tbsp chopped parsley
  • Egg wash, one egg whisked.

Method

  1. To make the white sauce filling, into a medium sized pot, melt the butter and add the flour.Stir well to create a paste.
  2. Leaving on the heat, start adding in the milk while stirring to remove any lumps.Once all the milk has been added cook out for a few minutes until you are left with a thick white sauce. Remove and set to one side to cool.
  3. Once cooled you can add the chopped ham and 60g of the grated cheese, keeping the remainder to sprinkle on top before baking.
  4. Preheat your oven to 200C/180C fan and line one baking tray with parchment paper.Depending on the puff pastry you bought, either unroll or roll out to measure 14"x 9".
  5. Cut this into 6 equal squares (approx. 4" squares)Spoon the ham and cheese filling into the centre of each square and egg wash the edges.
  6. Taking each corner of pastry, bring it into the centre and pinch to seal. Place these on the lined tray, egg wash the top and sprinkle over with the remaining cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. To serve, sprinkle on some chopped parsley and serve warm
