Ingredients
Serves 2
- 1 can beans (415g)
- 125g macaroni
- 20g butter
- 30g plain flour
- 150ml milk
- 150g grated cheddar cheese
- 1 slice of brioche loaf (cubed)
Method
- Cook the macaroni in salted boiling water for 3 minutes or less, as per the instructions on the packet, then drain and leave to one side.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan, then add flour and mix well to form a roux base for the cheese sauce. Whisk in the milk bit by bit over a low heat, ensuring it does not stick to the bottom of the saucepan.
- Remove the sauce from the heat once it has thickened, then stir in 100g of the cheese.
- Preheat the oven to 180ºc.
- Stir the cooked macaroni pasta into the cheese sauce and add to a heat-proof dish. Spoon over the beans into the pasta and cheese sauce and mix gently.
- Add the cubed brioche to the top and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until it's heated through, and the cheese has melted.
