This simple classic is full of juicy apples and topped with a crisp crumble topping.
Ingredients
- 4 large cooking apples, peeled and cut into chunks
- A large tablespoon of caster sugar
For the crumble
- 200g plain flour
- 100g castor sugar
- 100g butter
Method
- Place the apples, a tablespoon of water and sugar in a saucepan over a gentle heat and cook until the apples are in a soft pulp. Keep an eye on them while cooking , stirring occasionally, the apples will take about 10 minutes to cook.
- Preheat oven to 180°C/Gas 5.
- Put the flour and sugar into a bowl, add in butter and rub into flour with your fingers until the mix looks like breadcrumbs..
- Put the apples in an ovenproof dish. Spoon crumble over fruit. Bake in oven for about 20 minutes.
