Steak is definitely still on the menu, even if you're trying to lose weight and are following the Op Trans Food Plan. A low-cal alternative to the take-away option.

Ingredients:

  • 200g sirloin steak, cut into 2 inch strips
  • 80ml vegetable stock
  • 1 ½ teaspoon low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon corn flour
  • 2 teaspoon rapeseed oil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 2 sticks of celery, sliced
  • 2 carrots, peeled & sliced
  • 100g green beans
  • 100g bean sprouts
  • 225g (small can) bamboo shoots
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • 100g wholewheat noodle 

Method:
1. Place noodles in a pot of water.  bring to the boil and then reduce heat and simmer until cooked.

2. In a bowl combine stock, soy sauce, corn flour and pepper.

3. Place half the oil in a wok over medium to high heat. Add the beef and stir until cooked. Take out of pan and set aside.

4. Add the rest of the oil to the wok and add green beans, carrots, celery, bamboo shoots and bean sprouts. Stir regularly and cook until vegetables are crisp.

5. Add the the sauce and meat to the wok and stir.

6. Serve with noodles.
