Seeded Brown Bread Recipe

Nothing tastes and smells more delicious than a slice of homemade rustic brown bread! Try this super simple recipe from Boutique Bake this St.Patrick’s Day.

Ingredients

  • boutique bakes’ seeded brown bread mix, €3.99
  • 1 egg
  • 400 ml milk or buttermilk
  • 2lb loaf tin

Method

  • Preheat your oven to 200 degrees/ 180 fan/ gas mark 6.
  • Simply mix your bread mix with 1 egg and 400ml of milk in a large bowl. (You can use any type of milk; if you want it extra rich use buttermilk).
  • Spoon your mixture into a well greased/lined 2lb loaf tin and spread evenly.
  • To give your bread the ‘Boutique Bakeover’ before you place your bread in the oven, use a sharp knife and cut halfway through the bread mixture lengthways across the centre of the bread. Pour seeds provided either side of the line and press down lightly with your fingertips.
  • Bake on the middle shelf for 55-60 until nice and crispy on the outside.
  • Turn onto a wire rack and allow to cool before spreading lots of butter and jam on!
