Folláin's "No Need to Knead" brown bread

Ingredients

  • 225g of macroom coarse brown flour
  • 2 tbs of sunflower oil
  • 235 ml buttermilk

Method

  • Pre-heat your oven to 190C/170C fan/Gas Mark 5.
  • Combine 225g of Macroom Coarse Brown Flour with a tsp of bread soda, a tsp of salt, and 225g of plain flour sieved.
  • Add a tsp of dark brown sugar and mix well.
  • Mix 2 tbs of sunflower oil with 235 ml of buttermilk, and add to the flour, mixing lightly with your hands until the mixture is sticky.
  • Transfer the mixture into a greased loaf tin, score it, and bake for 45 minutes until the bread is golden.
  • Allow the bread to cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to allow to cool before slicing.
  • Slather a fresh slice with one of the selection of the Folláin Extra Fruit range, or the Folláin No Added Sugar range. For something savoury, add a local Irish cheese or smoked fish to one of Folláin’s Original or No Added Sugar/Salt Relishes.
  • Serve with the perfect cup of tea!
