Everything to know about Archie Harrison's royal christening

The world is eagerly waiting to see Master Archie Harrison again

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have made headlines across the world for bucking trends, both within the royal family and in parenting in general.

With rumours that their son Archie Harrison will be raised in a gender neutral setting, to the alleged inclusion of a mum-and-baby yoga studio in their Frogmore Cottage home, Meghan and Harry have already excelled at parenting in their own way, but his christening will likely be more traditional.

Although royal babies are not christened until they are between three and six months old, speculation is already mounting about Archie Harrison's big day, with bets even being placed on who his godparents will be.

It's most likely that the next time the public sees baby Archie Harrison will be on his christening, which could be anytime from July to November, depending on what Harry and Meghan want. Prince William and Kate Middleton's children were all baptised less than four months after their births, with Prince George christened at three months and Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis at two months.

Given that Master Archie Harrison - his official title - is a summer baby, experts predict his christening will come in July, just before the royals break for summer.

As for where this joyous, heavily documented event will take place, St George's Chapel in Windsor is the likely choice, being where Harry was baptised and where the couple tied the knot in front of millions last May. It's also just a short distance from their home, so is particularly convenient.

There will no doubt be countless articles about what Meghan will wear, but considerably less up for debate is what Archie Harrison will wear. He will wear the same Honiton lace and silk-satin gown worn by many royal babies before him, including William and Kate's children.

The gown is a replica of the one commissioned by Queen Victoria for the first of her children in 1841, a piece that was then worn by over 60 royal babies until it was deemed too delicate to be worn again in 2004. Until that point, it would be washed in spring water and stored in darkness between events.

The current iteration of it was commissioned by Queen Elizabeth and created by her dresser Angela Kelly.

As for the guest list, it won't be as dazzling as the royal wedding but will probably feature some famous faces. Certain to be there are William and Kate and their two older children, with Louis - just one year old - likely staying home. Harry's father Prince Charles and wife Camilla will surely attend, with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh possibly making an appearance. Doria Ragland, Meghan's mother and proud grandmother to Archie Harrison, will no doubt be present, too.

Godparents for the royal baby will not be announced until just before the christening, but bookies are already taking bets on some famous names taking on the roles. The clear favourite is Jessica Mulroney, Meghan's best friend and confidante, at 1/14, George and Amal Clooney at 6/1, David and Victoria Beckham at 12/1 and Sir Elton John and Oprah Winfrey each at 25/1.

Anyone who follows the royal couple on Instagram knows how invested they are in updating their followers, so fans won't be waiting long for another glimpse at Archie Harrison. Expect the stunning photos in the days after the event.
