Nissan's e-Power Qashqai delivers refined urban cruiser

The Qashqai was first introduced in 2006 as a compact crossover SUV. Tasked with replacing the Almera, Nissan had the idea that if they made a cheaper version of the Murano, they could bridge the gap between hatchback and saloon buyers.

The Qashqai had a huge impact on the market at launch, it resonated with buyers with its versatility and high driving position.

Manufacturers quickly noticed the Qashqai's success and followed suit with the Sportage, Kuga, HR-V, right up to today's extremely competitive market with nearly every manufacturer having a competitor to the Qashqai in their lineup.

It's tough to get to the top and even tougher to stay there. In today's market that means the need for hybrid technology. So Nissan has introduced 'e-power' - in the Qashqai, the petrol engine solely charges the battery and powers the front wheels.
