The iX3 has had fairly minimal styling changes. In fact, you'd probably be hard pressed to notice them. The main change are that the car now comes in M-Sport specification and has a better battery capacity.

The battery now has an improved capacity that BMW says will give the car a range of up to 450 kilometres – better than the range achieved by previous BMW electric cars – according to its own preliminary tests.

Like a lot of new well-equipped cars, both versions of the iX3 are expensive.

The standard iX3 M Sport starts €73,295. The iX3 M Sport Pro costs from €76,985, depending on specification. The cars are due here in December in time for January registrations.

The BMW grille is now larger on the revised model – as is the trend for all new BMW models – and the headlight contours are now ten millimetres slimmer to give the car a sharper look while at the same time making it more like the iX4 and i4. Other small changes have been made to the rear lights.

Rapid-charging means the new battery can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent of its full capacity in 34 minutes. You can also opt to juice up the car for a 100 km journey in 10 minutes. Slower charging units will mean significantly longer charging times.
