Any of the VW group superminis - from VW itself, Seat and Skoda - is well worth investigating if you need a small car that is designed for city use, is frugal and does't take up much space. Factor in a three cylinder engine - that can be a little raucous at times - and you can meet most requirements for urban driving.
Skoda is the latest of the three to revise its car and the Citigo gets an additional 34 mm to its length - enough to make a difference in a car this small.
Even with the extra length, you should'nt expect miracles though. None of these cars is really deigned to take any more than children in the back and boot space is quite limited. However, Skoda now claims that with the rear seats folded you can increase the capacity from 250 litres to 951 litres.
The Citigio comes in at €10,995 for the entry level three-door version with a 60 horse power engine.
There is a choice of two petrol engines.
Two three cylinder petrol engines are available offering 60hp or 75hp and both are available with the option of 5-speed manual gearbox or the 5 speed ASG automatic gearbox.
There have been minor enough changes to the exterior - a slightly domed shape bonnet from other Skoda's is now a feature and there are tweaks to the front grille and front and rear bumpers.
The ŠKODA Citigo is available in two trim levels - Active and Ambition.
With Active versions you get options such as an aux-in socket, CD player and MP3 compatibility. From Ambition, you get a colour screen and a USB slot while the Move & Fun mobile phone mount and app offers information and entertainment assistance. The Ambition starts at €12,050. The automatic gearbox is coming in at about €800 extra.
The Citigo also has a five star Euro NCAP crash test rating.
