Volkswagen to launch new premium saloon car

The details are, literally, sketchy as per our image here but Volkswagen has give some indication of what its new premium saloon will look like when it makes its debut at the Geneva motor show next year.

The Arteon is unlikely to try to match the ambitions evident in VW's previous car in this segment - the Phateon. It came to an abrupt production halt in 2016 when it became obvious VW had over-stretched itself by trying to compete with the biggest names in luxury car production. The Phaeton was, after all, only a Volkswagen.

Few details about the Arteon have been released. The doors are frameless to be reminiscent of a GT and a "wholly new interpretation of the front section" is promised, with the VW symbol and headlights merged. The bars of the grille extend into the three-dimensional headlights.

The car will be launched next summer.
