The Grand Coupe is heavily influenced in its design by the Renault Talisman, a bigger car not sold in Ireland, and maintains the traditional Renault front design. Aiming at the family market, Renault says the new car has an exceptionally large boot and easy access to it with a hands-free system. Basic equipment will include a 7" colour instrument panel; an 8.7" multi-media tablet and a park assist system.
Two diesel engines will be the options on the Irish market - a 110 horse power unit and a 130 horse power unit. Both engines are familiar from the Renault/Nissan partnership and have worked well. No prices have yet been announced but it is expected that Renault will have the car keenly priced to take advantage of demand by families and also achieve sales to those who have traditionally chosen other brands.
The Megane Grand Coupe should be here in November.
The exterior styling is reminiscent of the Renault Talisman - a bigger model not sold in Ireland - especially at the rear.
