Citroen reveals new C3

Customisation is not a new concept but it's what car manufacturers do these days to give customers - younger ones, that is - a feeling they are designing their own cars. So the C3 has a two-tone paint option, for example, with a choice of three roof colours. It's a far cry from the days when Henry Ford told buyers they could have any colour they wanted as long as it was black.

As with Opel's Adam, the C3 is primarily aimed at young drivers. The reveal of the car today suggests that Citroen has managed to give the C3 a badly-needed update in terms of overall looks but it is still very recognisable as a C3.

Note the Cactus-style door trim.

It is not yet clear just what will be standard equipment on the new car when it goes on sale later in the year but you can expect a seven inch display screen, possibly with satellite navigation that can be activated by touch or voice; hill-start and a reversing camera.

One very interesting piece of kit is an on-board HD camera "that allows you to share road trips and videos directly with friends and family", if that's what you, your friends or family are into.
