Suzuki is one of the lower-profile car manufacturers, but it has managed to establish a pretty loyal following among those who appreciate price and reliability over design and flair. But their new hatchback - it carries over the rather bland Baleno name - may just be the car to strengthen its profile, especially in Ireland, on price alone.
It goes on sale here next month, with an entry-level price of €17,995 for the 1.0 litre three-cylinder petrol model. It also has a very impressive list of standard equipment including satellite navigation, Bluetooth and air conditioning on all models. A seven inch touch panel display is also standard.
The Baleno is the first car to be built for Europe on Suzuki's new platform, which targets weight reduction and increased rigidity. CO2 emissions for the 1.0 litre Boosterjet version are 105 g/km, which will bring it into the lower tax band.
