No incidents involving the Mamas and Papas child seats - made specifically for Argos - have been reported but Argos says it has discovered a potential safety issue with them. It says the seats have been found to have a design issue that may mean they could crack in a crash situation.
No details have been revealed as to how many of the seats were sold in Ireland but the company has confirmed that they were sold here. The Mercury Group 1 models affected are referred to by their catalogue numbers and they are:
297/7526, 411/9100, 305/6037, 397/9530 and 245/4829.
Anyone who has bought on of these seats is advised to stop using them immediately and return it to an Argos shop for a refund. Customers can also contact the Argos customer service line on 1800 535 091.
